OUR HISTORY
Campbell Carpet & Flooring has been family owned and operated for more than 50 years. The company was founded by Lansing B. & Vivian C. Campbell in the late 1960’s. The store is located at 246 North High Street in a residential section of Cortland. The office/showroom is off the back entrance of the home that Mrs. Campbell’s ancestors built in the 1800’s. Over the next several decades The Campbells provided quality sales, service, and installation to Cortland and surrounding areas.
As the business grew in the early 1970’s it allowed for them to welcome their daughter Christie C. Campbell as the second generation to have a hand in the business. Christie proved to be a valuable part of their business with her wealth of knowledge, love of people, and quick wit. In the late 1970’s Mr. and Mrs. Campbell brought their grandson John L. Dunn Jr. on board as the third generation to enter into the business. John started as the warehouseman at a young age and learned the ropes very quickly. John eventually went out to measure and consult at the client’s home, learning under his Grandpa the ins and outs of how to run the flooring business. John’s sister Jackie also worked for her grandparents from the early 1980’s to the mid 1990’s. In 1991 Chris (daughter) and John (grandson) became partners which allowed for Mr. and Mrs. Campbell to retire.
Time passed and the family endured the loss of Mr. and Mrs. Campbell in the 1990’s. Unfortunately, the untimely loss of Chris (daughter) in February 2018. John (grandson) third generation is the owner/operator of Campbell Carpet & Flooring today. John’s sister Becky has also been part of the legacy since 1991 and handles the office procedures and sales. John & Becky are both dedicated to providing the same great service and quality workmanship that their family owned company was built on.
